The Boat Shed Bar and Grill serves up some of the best meals in Aitutaki with a smile from the experienced staff at the famous Popoara beach. The fine meals are served for up to 40 guests at the main Boat Shed restaurant – a wooden structure which has a comfortable balcony with a museum type setting.
The spacious cool interior décor has walls lined with light timber and has an eclectic collection of sailing paraphernalia which sets an ocean voyage mood reminiscent of Popoara’s rich history.
For a banquet of over 60 guests another 10 could be seated at the door decking, 18 in the conference room and others at the bar tables if required.
The walls are peppered with old photos from the 1800 and 1900s and with the closest ocean views guests will be treated extra during the whale season when these mammals can put on a spectacular show just off the reefs in front of the restaurant.
Fine cuisine
Whether you decide on a steak with chips for lunch or shrimp cocktail for dinner, your meal will be enjoyed with a friendly set of waiters.
Your meal will be enjoyed with the cool Pacific breezes buffeting the typical high temperature that is part of this tropical paradise; but the cocktail maybe more comfortable with the unparalleled sunsets at Popoara.
The options for the day and evening menus are focused on seafood but the exotic flavours prepared by the international chef has been praised by some of the best travel critics who have been
privileged to be hosted at the Boat Shed Bar and Grill.
Mingle with locals
The restaurant has gained quite a reputation attracting local business people and a few local families who frequent the eatery and bar with tourists from neighbouring resorts.
It is your first hand opportunity to mix with the locals and learn from their past and culture. It will be an opportunity of a lifetime to delve into these Polynesians’ history and lifestyle whose ancestors braved thousands of miles of voyage to populate these islands.
